OCR tools comes very handy when we are working with a lot of text that are saved as images. As with any other OCR tools, IMG to Text App is a free iOS app that converts image to text. I have used this app very frequently and I can say that it works incredibly well. I was working on a restaurant website when the client gave me their long menu pages. I was able to scan all the text without any hesitance. Off-course you may need to use inbuilt cropping tool on your iOS device for better results.
The conversion process is very simple. Simply take a picture of a document that you would like to extract the text from (or you can use the gallery instead), and e-mail the image to yourself, co-workers, friends. You will all receive not only the image but a text file that contains the editable text that is extracted from the image. You can also use Evernote instead of email to get your text which is handy if you are a user of Evernote. Just make sure the lighting is sufficient, there are no shadows, and that the image is well focused.
